Ping Table Tennis Club opens Friday in Vail

VAIL — High altitude ping-pong will never be the same as Ping, the Vail Valley’s only dedicated table tennis club opens its doors for the winter season on Friday at Happy Valley Grill located in the Vail Golf Clubhouse. Ping is the result of a partnership between the Vail Symposium and Happy Valley Grill, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the non-profit Symposium.

“We’re thrilled to launch this winter table tennis club at Happy Valley Grill in Vail,” said Alby Segall, President of the Vail Symposium, the second-oldest non-profit organization in Vail. “This is a new and quite unique venture for our organization and we’re very excited to see where it takes us.” The Symposium has previously hosted two successful Vail Valley table tennis tournaments as fundraising events in collaboration with the wildly successful Manhattan based club, SPiN New York.

Ping offers hourly and seasonal table rates with open play and tournaments, as well as pro-demos by some of the best table tennis enthusiasts in the country. Ping-pong play will be coupled with a full appetizer and dinner menu by Chef Zach Sargent and the Happy Valley culinary team.

This year marks the first time Happy Valley Grill in the Vail Golf Clubhouse remains open during the winter season. “We now we have a great reason for people to come out to the Grill all winter long,” says owner Marc DesRosiers. “We’re going to have a lot of fun with food and drink specials for ping-pongers, but with our big-screen TVs, we’ll also have specials during football, hockey and other televised games.”

Hours of operation for Ping at Happy Valley Grill are Thursdays and Fridays from 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 – 10:00 p.m. Table tennis reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are always welcome. Happy Valley Grill is on the Town of Vail bus route and provides free parking at the Vail Golf Clubhouse. Table tennis rates range from $10/hour to $125/season. Locals and group discounts are available. Ping may also be booked for private parties and fundraisers.
