On the Hill: Nearly a foot of fresh snow on Vail Mountain

On the Hill, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report showcasing Vail's ski conditions every day.

VIDEO: Vail Daily reporter John LaConte delivers his daily GoPro conditions report while snowboarding down the run called "Sourdough" on Vail Mountain. LaConte continuously calls the run "Boomer" in his report, but he's mistaken. It's Sourdough. Boomer is the adjacent run to the east.

Vail official report: 1" new snow overnight, 8" since 5 a.m. Friday

Vail Daily field report: There's nearly a foot of untouched snow in places

Weather: Cloudy, with light snow at the higher elevations

Liftline status: Crowded today

Run of the day: Anything in China Bowl or the eastern side of the mountain

Breakdown: On Friday night, between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., snow was dumping on Vail Pass. But at lower elevations farther to the west, like the town of Vail, snowfall was minimal. That means China Bowl, Blue Sky and the eastern parts of Vail Mountain are likely where you'll find the deeper snow today. Indeed it's out there.

Snowcast: The National Weather service is reporting there's a 100 percent chance of snow for today, 80 percent chance for tonight, 70 percent for Sunday during the day, 70 percent chance of snow for Sunday night, and 40 percent chance of snow for Monday.
