VAIL — Have you ever felt that you might have a knack for creating a relevant and engaging lesson plan? Do you believe in offering a myriad of unique, hands-on learning experiences for local students?
If so, the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships needs you — contribute your ideas of how our students can learn from this incredible event. The 2015 World Championships Youth Committee is currently collecting lesson plans from community members that incorporate the 2015 Championships.
“During the 1999 World Championships, we invited teachers from around Colorado to submit lessons and activities to be considered for publication,” said Ceil Folz, president of the Vail Valley Foundation. “As a result, about 30 lesson plans were published and the publication was distributed throughout the state.”
Lesson plans can be for any grade and any content area, but all lessons must incorporate the 2015 World Championships theme. Topics can range from cultural activities to a particular nation’s history or a physics lesson that examines the friction of skis on snow.
