CDOT rewards those for better driving habits

DENVER — The Colorado Department of Transportation is launching a contest called the Peak Time Challenge. Change your Sunday driving habits and get rewarded for it. CDOT is already predicting delays for today’s and Sunday’s trip from the mountains back to the Front Range.

That’s why they want you to change the time for your return trip on eastbound I-70 and are willing to give you stuff to do it.

“We’re all in this together. The more we can do the more we can help the conditions on I-70, the better off we’ll all be,” said Amy Ford, CDOT’s communications director.

Beginning Sunday, the Change Your Peak Time challenge asks you to submit stories, 150 words or less, about how you managed to spend as little time in your car as possible during your trip to the mountains.

Tell your story on the GoI70.com “Change Your Peak Time” Facebook page.

“We wanted to have a little fun with this. We wanted everyone to show how you can have fun in the mountains and spend the least amount of time in traffic,” Ford said.

The best stories will highlight mountain activities, peak traffic avoidance, photo proof of travel conditions on I-70 and GoI70.com deals, and winners will get weekend getaway prizes donated by Copper Mountain Resort, Keystone Resort and Winter Park Resort.
