Vail Daily recipient of honors from press peers

DENVER — The Vail Daily earned 34 awards this past week — including a General Excellence honor — from two state press associations for the paper’s work in 2013.

Journalists in Arkansas and Virginia judged the work of the state’s newspapers in contests sponsored by the Colorado Associated Press Editors and Reporters and the Colorado Press Association. Winners were announced Friday in Denver.

Newspapers are judged in circulation classes, and whether they’re daily or weekly.

“Our aim is to be a strong paper every issue for our readers and community,” Vail Daily Publisher Don Rogers said. “Awards from peers in the business is always icing on the cake, and we have a strong, capable crew that works very hard. I’m glad to see them get the recognition.”
