Eagle County senior community calendar

Upcoming events

Today: Free blood pressure checks at the Golden Eagle Senior Center, 11:30 a.m. First come, first served. No sign up necessary.

Wednesday: Poker game at the Golden Eagle Senior Center, 1 p.m. No sign-up necessary.

Thursday: Tea and Terrariums project offered by the Senior Spot and the Vail Public Library, 1 to 4 p.m. Must call Bev for reservations by 5 p.m. today. Call 970-331-6626.

Friday: Poetry group meeting at Eagle Public Library, 10:30 a.m. Come to share your poetry or just to listen. No sign-up necessary.

Friday: High Cholesterol Linked to Wheat presentation by Jacqui Slavin, 11 to 11:30 a.m., Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center.

Monday: Shopping trip to Glenwood Springs, bus leaves Golden Eagle Senior Center at 10 a.m. and return time is dependent on the group — usually by 2 or 3 p.m. Call 970-328-8896 to sign up.

March 25: New eight-week session of tai chi begins at the Golden Eagle Senior Center. Tuesdays at 10 a.m. $15 for the eight-week session. Call 970-328-8896.

Ongoing weekly activities

Mondays

• Senior Spot, 1 to 4 p.m., Eagle River Presbyterian Church. Sponsored by Eagle Valley Senior Life.

• Full body fitness class, 9 to 10 a.m., Golden Eagle Senior Center. Seated and standing activities. Variety offered with hand weights, resistance bands and cardiovascular training. Suggested donation of $2. Call 970-328-8896.

Tuesdays

• Senior lunch, noon, Golden Eagle Senior Center, $3 suggested donation. Rides available. Call 970-328-8896.

• Seated stretch and strengthen exercise class, 11 a.m. to noon, Golden Eagle Senior Center. Hand weights and resistance bands incorporated. Some limited cardiovascular work. Suggested donation of $2 per class. Call 970-328-8896.

• Transportation for errands. Bus leaves the Golden Eagle at 2 p.m. Call 970-328-8896.

• Joint Relief Water Class, 10 to 11 a.m. at the Avon Recreation Center. $2 per class. Call 970-328-8831.

• Water aerobics class, 10 to 11 a.m. at the Gypsum Recreation Center. $5 drop in rate. Call 970-328-8896.

Wednesdays

• Senior lunch, 11:30 a.m. at Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center. $2 per meal. Rides available. Call 970-328-8831.

• Snowshoeing at Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center, 10 a.m. Snowshoes provided. Free.

• Chair Yoga at Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center, 11 a.m. Free.

• Grocery shopping, bus leaves Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center at 12:30 p.m.

• Full body fitness class, 9 to 10 a.m., Golden Eagle Senior Center. Variety offered with hand weights, resistance bands, circuit training, balance challenges and cardiovascular training. Suggested donation of $2 per class. Call 970-328-8896.

• DVD-lead tai chi, Golden Eagle Senior Center, 10 a.m. No sign-up necessary.

• Poker game at the Golden Eagle on the first and third Wednesday of every month, 1 to 3 p.m.

Thursdays

• Senior Spot for engaging activities and socialization (must be 55 or older), 1 to 4 p.m., Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center. Call 977-0188.

• Senior lunch, noon at the Golden Eagle Senior Center in Eagle, $3.00 suggested donation for people 60 or older. Home pick-ups and drop-offs are available. Call 970-328-8896 for reservations.

• Senior crochet group, 1 p.m. at the Golden Eagle.

• Grocery shopping, bus leaves the Golden Eagle at 1 or 2 p.m., depending on shopping location. Call 970-328-8896.

• Water aerobics class, 10 to 11 a.m. at the Gypsum Recreation Center. $5 drop in rate. Call 970-328-8896.

Fridays

• Senior lunch, 11:30 a.m. at Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center, $2 fee per meal for those 60 or older. Home pick-ups and drop-offs are available, depending on location. Call 970-328-8831 for reservations.

• Third Friday of every month: Poetry Group at the Eagle Library, 10:30 a.m.

• Fourth Friday of every month: BINGO at the Golden Eagle, 1 p.m.
