EAGLE COUNTY — The Gallegos Corporation recently won multiple awards for its work on the Ralph L. Carr Judicial Center in Denver. The company was awarded an ACE Award for Best Building Project, Subcontractor, by the Associated General Contractors of Colorado. The Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center was entered in the single project category in the $6-10 million range.
The Gallegos Corporation performed the exterior stone cladding, the site paving and architectural boulder work on the Judicial Center. The company worked on the project for over two and half years, including a full year in the “Building Information Modeling” process. The process eliminated more than 80 conflicts between stone installation, precast, glazing and waterproofing, allowing the company to finish the job on time and within budget.
The Gallegos Corporation also received two awards at the 2013 Masterworks in Masonry competition hosted by the Rocky Mountain Masonry Institute. The company took home the First Place Grand Award for the Government category and Overall Best of Show, both awarded for outstanding work at the Judicial Center.
During voting for the Best in Show award, the project was awarded five out of a total possible five in each of the six judging categories, making it the clear winner and was declared “a true achievement in masonry.” The work at the Judicial Center has also been distinguished by numerous awards in the past several months including project of the year, Engineering News Record, Mountain States Region, presented to the general contractor MA Mortensen.
