VAIL — The Northside Coffee & Kitchen in Avon will get a little brother later this year.
Northside owner Jim Pavelich has leased the site in West Vail where the 7-11 store operated for years. He’s remodeling, and will open in the middle of this summer. The new location won’t be a full-service restaurant, as reflected in its name — Northside Grab & Go. Pavelich said the new store will sell the same coffee and other drinks available at the Avon location, as well as the restaurant’s donuts and pastries — all of which are made in Avon. There will also be a few ready-to-go lunch and breakfast items — also prepared at the Avon location.
“We’re opening a high-end, super-duper convenience store,” he said.
The Vail location follows a successful first few years for the Avon location. The original plan was to have the coffee shop on one side of the building, with the remaining space then leased to a “fine-dining” restaurant. That plan changed a bit, and Pavelich’s operation took over the entire building, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served.
When asked about the success of the place, Pavelich said, “I’m not surprised, but I’m pleased. It’s gone very well.”
