11 big game animals killed, left to rot in eastern Colorado

SEIBERT, Colo. (AP) — Wildlife officers say someone shot and killed 11 big game animals in eastern Colorado and left the carcasses to rot.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife said Thursday nine antelope and two deer were killed with firearms Nov. 11-12 near the town of Seibert, about 130 miles east of Denver.

Spokesman Kyle Davidson says it’s one of the most egregious poaching cases the agency has seen in some time.

Investigators are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information. Prosecutors could file charges of willful destruction of wildlife.
Neither animal was in season for rifle hunting. Even in season, abandoning a carcass is illegal.

Davidson says investigators believe at least two people were involved. He says a landowner’s tip led to the discovery of the animals.
