Edwards man earns fire board seat

EAGLE COUNTY — There was one contested seat in Tuesday’s board election for the Eagle River Fire Protection District, and it appears to have been won by Clint Janssen of Edwards.

With the preliminary totals tallied — overseas votes can come in until May 14 — Janssen outpolled Avon resident Dan Smith 80 votes to 74.

Al Bosworth and Darell Wegert were running unopposed for board seats, and earned 124 and 125 votes respectively.

The Eagle River Fire District runs from the top of Tennessee Pass, and covers the Vail Valley west of Dowd Junction to Wolcott. The town of Vail has its own municipal fire department.
