Class of 2014: A look at this year’s Vail Valley seniors

Marisela Ortiz

School: Red Canyon High School

Favorite school moment from any year: freshman and sophomore year when I was going to school with all my friends, good memories.

Summer plans: Go on vacation to celebrate graduation.

Where are you headed this fall? I will be staying in Eagle County going to CMC.

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most? I will never leave Eagle County. I love my mountains.

If you’re staying, what are you happiest about keeping? I’m happy for keeping my family close.

Favorite class you took: My favorite class would have to be zombies with Mrs. Grimmer.

Class you wish had been offered: I think all my classes were fun and I enjoyed every single one of them.

Anything else? Thank you teachers, especially Mr. Hill for always believing in me and always accepting me back.

Maggie Shaffer

School: Battle Mountain High School.

Favorite School memory: Going to Nationals with my best friend in the entire world (Woody Brook) or going to Costa Rica with my main girl Sonya!

Summer plan: Spend as much time with my friends and family as possible!

Where I am headed: High Point University in North Carolina.

What I will miss most: the fall colors and my family, no doubt about it

In 10 years I’ll be: Still figuring out who I am and enjoying every second of it (hopefully).

Favorite Class you took: Show Choir with the best teacher in the world, the wonderful Sheresa Wilbanks.

Class you wish you had been offered: Musical theater.

Anything else?: I love you Mom and Dad. Thank you for being my biggest supporters and best friends! I wouldn’t be who I am today without you! Go Panthers!

Matthew Cirkovic

School: Eagle Valley High School

Favorite school moment from any year: There are days in DE Comp when my friend Jack and I can’t stop laughing and bother Mrs. Stavney to no end. Those are my favorite days. Also being CHSAA state champion in humor interpretation this year, that was awesome.

Summer plans: Work and spend time with friends before I leave for college!

Where are you headed this fall: Colorado Mesa University.

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most: The people and the mountain views.

In 10 years you’ll be: Hopefully not in a federal prison (if you don’t want to put that, which is completely understandable, put this: A successful software engineer).

Favorite class you took: AP Psychology

Class you wish had been offered: I wish video game testing was a class.

Anything else? Shout to my friends Jack and Alex — couldn’t have made it here without you guys.

Melinda Vickers

School: Battle Mountain High School

Favorite school moment from any year: Every moment with my soccer team, but winning a league title on the most beautiful field in Colorado was one of the best.

Summer plans: Traveling, working, playing soccer, and spending time with friends and family.

Where are you headed this fall: Elmhurst College in Illinois.

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most: I will miss the friendships that I have made, my soccer team, my family, and of course the mountains.

In 10 years you’ll be: Traveling, living in a city, and hopefully having success in a career that I love!

Favorite class you took: AP Biology.

Anything else? I want to say thank you to my mom, dad, and sister for their constant support in everything I do. Thank you to the most amazing soccer team I have ever been a part of, to Coach Cope for teaching me to believe in myself. And to all the teachers, mentors and friends that have taught me all about life.

Melissa Law

School: Battle Mountain High School.

Favorite High School Moments: Going to Nationals in Orlando with the Dance Team!

Summer Plans: I’m looking for a job if anyone is interested! I also plan to hang out with my friends and family as much as possible before we all part ways.

Where are you headed this fall: University of California-Berkeley

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss the most: I will miss this crazy Colorado weather.

In 10 years you’ll be: Hopefully I will be living somewhere exotic, doing what I love.

Favorite Class you took: Anything with Ms. Wheatley or Mr. Caudill!

Class you wish had been offered: Underwater basket weaving.

Michael Chadwick

School: Red Canyon High School

Favorite school moment from any year: Being able to go on a class trip to Utah.

Summer plans: To get a summer job and save my money.

Where are you headed this fall? North Western Community College

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most? The bipolar weather and friendly people.

If you’re staying, what are you happiest about keeping? My family and friends.

Favorite class you took: Anything Troy Dudley!

Class you wish had been offered: Cooking class.
