VAIL – Rick Sackbauer, Debbie Buckley and Steve Friedman will serve another two years in their Eagle River Water & Sanitation District leadership positions, with Sackbauer as chair and president of the board, Buckley as secretary and Friedman as treasurer.
The seven directors of the publicly elected board unanimously selected the trio at the June 26 board meeting; the officer terms run until the next regular special district election in May 2016.
Sackbauer was re-elected to the board in May, along with Tom Allender, Bill Simmons and Paul Testwuide. They joined Friedman and Buckley, who were each elected to four-year terms in 2012. Sackbauer has been chair since 2011; he also served as chair in prior years.
LANGMAID TAKES OPEN SEAT
The newly elected directors were sworn-in May 24 and would normally select officers at the same meeting. However, directors chose to postpone the election of officers because one director seat was vacant, as no candidate from Director District 3 ran in the regular election.
Kim Langmaid submitted a letter of interest in the open seat, which directors considered during the May board meeting and unanimously agreed to appoint her to the position. The appointment runs to the next regular special district election in May 2016, when Langmaid could run for a two-year term to complete the four-year term of the Director District 3 position.
Langmaid is the founder of Walking Mountains Science Center and keenly interested in water and wastewater issues as they relate to the natural environment.
