Mitsch Bush bill advances

Diane Mitsch Bush

DENVER — The House passed a bill Tuesday by Rep. Diane Mitsch Bush, D-Steamboat Springs, to extend the income tax checkoff benefiting the Colorado Healthy Rivers Fund through 2020.

SUPPORTING RIVERS

The tax checkoff for the fund has been in place since 2003 and allows Colorado taxpayers to contribute a portion of their tax refund to the Healthy Rivers Fund. The fund provides grants to support watershed improvements like stream restoration, habitat protection or watershed reclamation after wildfires.

“This program has provided critical resources to protect and restore Colorado’s rivers and streams,” Mitsch Bush said. “I’m glad to see such strong bipartisan support to continue providing resources to local water conservation districts and nonprofits.”
