Grace Merriman

Vail Mountain School

Favorite moment or memory from any school year: Our senior trip to New York City last month. Spending that time with great friends in such a fun place was really a wonderful way to close out my VMS career. Our VMS girls soccer team making it to the state playoffs is icing on the cake.

Summer plans: A summer filled with travel! Returning just in time to board another plane to go ski race and train in New Zealand. A little time here and there at home – not nearly enough. Then its time to pack up and head east for college.

Where are you headed this fall? Williams College in Williamstown, MA. I am very excited about my college choice and am fortunate that I will also be ski racing on their NCAA alpine ski team next winter.

What will you miss most about Eagle County? The beauty of the outdoor life, everything to do with the mountains, my friends and, of course, my family.

In 10 years you’ll be: You never know where life will take you, but I anticipate that I will have gone on to graduate school and be starting my pursuit of a career in science. I want to move back to a place that has mountains or at least limitless outdoor potential for recreational fun. Regardless, I am excited about the future!

Favorite class you took at VMS: AP Biology with Mr. Sappenfield has been not only my favorite class and where I have learned the most, but also future changing. It has driven me to push myself academically and to want to pursue science as a career.

Anything Else? I moved here only five years ago from California, however, I am thankful for my experiences in the awesome Vail Valley with VMS and Ski and Snowboard Club Vail. I do feel like this is my home.

Harrison Stevens

Where you’re headed this fall: Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas on a baseball scholarship.

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most: I will miss the mountains and the Valley in general.

In 10 years you’ll be: Hopefully still playing, but if not coaching.

Favorite class you took: English and P.E.

Class you wish had been offered: Nap time

Anything else? I would like to thank my family and friends for all of their support in helping me reach my goals.
