Foundations raising money for injured trooper

Eugene Hofacker

EAGLE COUNTY — The Slifer Smith & Frampton Foundation has offered to match dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000 to help local charities through their Live Local & Give Local Summer Match Madness.

The Vail Valley Charitable Fund recently gave a grant to local Colorado State Patrol Trooper Eugene Hofacker to help with medical bills after being shot by a convicted felon on the side of Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon on May 8, 2014. Hofacker’s next surgery will cost at least $20,000. The Vail Valley Charitable Fund is asking for your help. Together with the Slifer Smith & Frampton Foundation, the foundation hopes to raise the money necessary for Hofacker to have this surgery and to help him on the path to healing.
