Eagle airport receives grant for apron project

GYPSUM — The Eagle County Regional Airport has been awarded a Federal Aviation Administration grant for $6.9 million to allow for the completion of a major apron rehabilitation project. The airport is replacing aging concrete in the area where commercial aircraft park. Regular air service will continue throughout the duration of the work.

The pavement maintenance project was originally designed in 2011, with construction spread across three seasons. The grant will allow the final phase of construction to be completed during the summer of 2016. Upon completion, approximately 36,500 cubic yards of concrete, 12 to 16 inches thick, will have been laid. Total cost of the project is $21.1 million.
