What goods or services do you provide? We offer a full spectrum of green building services including air sealing, insulation, remodeling and new construction. Our specialty is expert analysis of existing homes to determine cost saving measures to increase comfort, safety and energy efficiency of a home, which will also save homeowners money on their utility bills.

What’s new or exciting at your place? We are about to complete our first energy efficient spec home in the Bluffs neighborhood in Eagle. It is a single-family home with a lock-off apartment built in a mountain contemporary style that features extensive use of sustainably sourced lumber, in-floor and radiant heat and locally harvested beetle-kill pine accents. Our goal was to build a spec house that is 50 percent more efficient than what is typically available in the spec market.

What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? We have years of experience focusing on energy efficiency in homes. We have inspected hundreds of units in the Vail Valley and have seen all of the mistakes that were made through the years. Advances in building technology happen slowly and we can help implement solid building science principles to your home.

What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? We are on time, honest with all of our customers and provide good service at a fair price.

What can your customers expect from you? We believe in what we do, and it is exciting for us to work with customers who want to have safe and energy efficient homes that are comfortable. We get a lot of satisfaction in helping our customers achieve their goals.

Tell us a little about your background, education and experience: I am a landscape architect by training and have owned and operated a landscape contracting company in the past. More recently, I have been studying and applying building science for more than five years. I also ran the Eagle County Energy Resource Center for three years, which gave me invaluable experience with green building techniques.

What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? I tend to be progressive and open minded in my political views, and the excavating crew showed up with some “interesting” bumper stickers on their trucks. I am a hands-on contractor and worked side-by-side with the crew. Let’s just say we had some spirited discussions about politics while digging the foundation.
