Police searching for suspects after Gypsum shooting

UPDATE, 4:30 p.m.: The latest from the Eagle County Alerts system: Gypsum residents can return home. Checkpoints will be set up in the Gypsum Estates area. Once home, keep doors and windows locked and stay inside.

GYPSUM — Police are searching for a male suspect after a shooting that left a person injured at a store in Gypsum shortly after noon Friday. A juvenile female suspect was captured about mid-afternoon.

Witnesses reported an armed robbery at Tienda Montes at 925 Green Way at the Dakota Square shopping area. The victim was taken from the scene in an ambulance.



With the female suspect in custody, police are continuing to search the neighborhood. The search area is in the vicinity of Gypsum Elementary School and Eagle Valley High School, as well as Estes Lane and the area along the railroad tracks.

Police are looking for a Hispanic male, mid-20s, wearing a blue shirt and black pants. He has tattoo sleeves on both arms. If you see him, call 911. Do not approach him.
