1. Enjoy the Vail International Dance Festival’s opening night — Vail International Dance Festival swings into its 26th season tonight at the Gerald Ford Amphitheater with an opening-night performance that previews the artists and companies to be featured throughout the 2014 festival. New York City Ballet principal dancer Tiler Peck and festival artist-in-residence Herman Cornejo will perform principal roles in George Balanchine’s “Rubies” alongside the Pennsylvania Ballet. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

2. See Ginga — Today’s Ginga with Bateria Alegria show will be the sixth of 10 free outdoor concerts featuring local and regionally based jazz talent at the Vail Farmers’ Market. Through years of playing and studying a multitude of different styles (including samba, forro, MPB, bossa nova, chorinho, and Brazilian jazz), Ginga has evolved into one of the most versatile and exciting bands in the Front Range, specializing in the traditional music of Brazil. Jazz at the Market will be presented in the tent at Solaris on Meadow Drive starting at noon.
