High Altitude Society: Project Funway benefits education in Eagle County

Fashion forward designers and models were highlighted at the second annual Project Funway event to support the Education Foundation of Eagle County.

The event took place Sunday evening at the Donovan Pavilion in Vail. Our community was ready to see some color, creativity and panache after a long, wet spell of spring weather and Project Funway did not disappoint.

The crowd was treated to some spectacular and creative designs, and flashy models strutting their stuff, all for an important cause — the Education Foundation of Eagle County.

Celebrity judges included Trista Sutter, Tricia Swenson, Ti Diaz and Heather Hotard, who had the difficult challenge of choosing winners among many show-stopping designs.

An army of volunteers came together to make the event a success, but W Salon owner Susan Wagenknecht stood out as a champion as she is expecting a child and worked long hours styling hair to beautify the runway.

Event organizer Pavan Krueger must have been exhausted after all her work putting together this event.

“Yes, this has been a lot of work. I will be glad to be able to relax a bit,” said Krueger, who was quick to thank all of the designers and models, especially the high school students who took a little time away from studying for exams to be at Project Funway.

Krueger thanked sponsors and donors including Donovan Pavilion, the town of Vail, Vail Resorts, Eric Berg of Vail Catering Concepts, Pink Monkey Solutions, Vail Honeywagon, Fred Hammond from Great Time DJ’s and many more.

Matt Scherr did a wonderful job as the MC, Crazy Mountain Brewery and Little Black Dress kept the libations flowing and Alpine Party Rentals the supplied equipment.

A team of helpful volunteers put on a wonderfully organized, fun and fabulous event that played out seamlessly.

Finally, Krueger thanked the trustees of the Education Foundation of Eagle County who have been very supportive of Project Funway.

Start planning for next year and design your own award-winning fashion statement.
