Thirty years ago, they were the new kids in the community. Today, it is hard to imagine Eagle without Alpine Bank.

The bank’s name has been proudly worn by generations of kids participating in local sports, and countless community efforts have gotten a kick start with a bank donation. Local students have attended college through Alpine Bank scholarships, and the local business community knows it can turn to Alpine for assistance.

Tonight from 5 to 7 p.m., Alpine Bank is celebrating its 30th anniversary in Eagle. All are welcome to drop by the bank for refreshments, giveaways and more.

“We are just thankful for our customers and the community,” said Rachel Gerlach, Eagle Alpine Bank branch president. “Without their support, we wouldn’t be here.”

While the Eagle branch is celebrating 30 years, Alpine Banks as a whole is marking its 40th anniversary this year. While Gerlach was in Eagle when the bank opened, she was only 4 years old at the time.

“I think our board of directors saw the possibility for growth and housing development in the downvalley area 30 years ago,” she said.

Obviously, judging by the downvalley development boom of the past three decades, the board was correct in that assessment.

Back in 1983, Alpine Bank was Eagle’s second bank. The bank vault made big news back when the facility opened.

“They have what is reportedly the largest bank vault in Western Colorado. The vault is a 26-ton stainless steel vault that was built in 1908 by the York Safe and Lock Company in York, Pa.,” reported the Eagle Valley Enterprise.

Gerlach said tonight’s get-together will be a fun opportunity to recall the old days and look forward to Alpine Bank’s continued investment in the Eagle community.
