VAIL — The first known pool built in Vail at the town’s first hotel, The Lodge at Vail, has undergone a nearly $1 million renovation and has reopened with the nickname Pool One to honor its historical significance and proximity to Gondola One.
“This renovation marks the first of many exciting transformations to be made in Vail over the next 50 years,” said Stephan Nicolas, Lodge at Vail general manager. “We are committed to delivering the experience of a lifetime at The Lodge at Vail and are continually looking for opportunities to elevate the guest experience across our RockResorts family of luxury resorts.”
Features of the Renovation
The renovation of The Lodge at Vail Pool One includes two large side-by-side, in-ground hot tubs with a gas fireplace between them, furnishings, stonework, landscaping, two gas fire pits, a sound system with the ability to cater music to guests’ needs and heating for year-round access.
The new pool area also features a full-service bar and a commercial kitchen.
Pool party every sunday
Every Sunday, The Lodge at Vail is hosting a free pool party, which is open to the public from 3 to 6 p.m. It features “farm to pool” cuisine with local ingredients from the Vail Farmers Market. Chef Rudy Williams will change the menu weekly and will pair menu items with beer crafted by Bonfire Brewery.
Throughout the 2012-13 winter season, Vail celebrated its 50th anniversary with a calendar full of events and festivities, and received a momentous birthday present — Gondola One, a 10-passenger gondola with heated, cushioned seats and Wi-Fi access.
In 2011 Elway’s Vail opened at The Lodge at Vail. Named for former Denver Bronco quarterback and NFL Hall of Fame Inductee John Elway, Elway’s Vail is the restaurant’s first location outside of Denver.
