AVON — The last cowboy has been tossed tail over teakettle for the 2013 Beaver Creek Rodeo at Traer Creek.
The summer weekly rodeo series enjoyed its final ride Aug. 15 before a packed house, with most of the crowd enjoying health food: Hot buttered popcorn, corn dogs, hot dogs and snow cones.
The folks working there — the cowboys, clowns and everyone else — made the series another huge success.
There was the calf scramble, kids chasing young cows to grab that magic red ribbon.
The most entertaining event was still the mutton bustin’. It’s encouraged in rodeo, especially by the parents of those kids hanging on for dear life. At the end of the event, the rodeo royalty met with the kids to sign autographs, making the kids and their parents so very happy.
The stands are empty and the arena is clean and clear.
Same time next year.
