What goods or services do you provide? Movement provides the most effective injury prevention, rehabilitation and sports performance techniques in the Vail Valley. We take “traditional” physical therapy to the next level. Dr. Scott Wacker specializes in sports and orthopedics with an emphasis in injury prevention and performance. His exclusive “Injury Prevention Physical” is a signature offering at Movement and has the power to keep you on the slopes or in the game. The system is available to anyone interested in staying injury-free — it’s for elite and recreational athletes alike.
In addition to Movement’s Injury Prevention Physical, we are in-network with most major insurances and typically no physician referral is required to begin advanced physical therapy care. We also accept worker’s compensation and auto claims.
What’s new or exciting at your place? Winter sports are notorious for having an especially high incidence of orthopedic injuries. Many of these injuries can be easily prevented, but individual risk factors must first be identified.
Medical research has shown one of the biggest contributors to an increased risk of injury is how you physically move (or do not move). Poor movement patterns, poor balance and asymmetries reduce the effects of training, distort body awareness and ultimately influence movement efficiency — thus heightening your risk of injury and reducing athletic performance.
Movement’s Injury Prevention Physical effectively illuminates these factors by testing and scoring very specific whole-body functional movements. Dr. Wacker uses a combination of specialized tests including the Functional Movement Screen. This screening is used by professional sports teams internationally and was recently added to the NFL and NHL scouting combines. The scoring system is directly linked to the most beneficial corrective treatments to restore mechanically sound movement patterns and reduce the risk of injury.
What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? Expertise and results. With both our Injury Prevention Physical and the advanced physical therapy offered at Movement, you will feel the difference and see real results — often immediately. This is not the typical physical therapy that takes weeks to see any change. Because of our advanced credentials and unique techniques, we succeed where many others have failed. Dramatic reduction of injury risk and improvements in athletic performance stem from correcting how the body fundamentally moves, not coaching technique or skill itself.
Movement is also the only local clinic in the Vail Valley where specialized Doctors of Physical Therapy own the clinic and provide skilled patient care — no student interns, trainers, aides or assistants. Appointments range from 45 minutes to an hour and a half of advanced individualized care. You will always schedule with the same therapist. The quality of care provided at Movement Physical Therapy cannot be duplicated.
What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? Our superior outcomes stem from focusing on correcting the individual dysfunctional movement that oftentimes is the root of resulting pain, injury and reduced performance. We do not use a one-size-fits-all protocol that is all too common in therapy practices today. As normal movement patterns are treated and restored, patients experience significant symptomatic improvement, improved functioning, enhanced athletic performance and reduced risk of future injury. Movement Physical Therapy is the first and only clinic in the Vail Valley to offer this innovative and progressive model of care.
