Minturn 5K run is Saturday

MINTURN — The Holiday Fever 5K run/walk and one-mile family run is Saturday starting at 10 a.m. in Minturn. All fitness levels are welcome. Both races start at 10 a.m., so dress warmly. Participants who bring non-perishable food items on race day to donate to The Salvation Army will receive a free fleece ear warmer from Land’s End.

Wear Your Spikes

The races follow an out-and-back course near downtown Mintun. The dirt road is snow-covered so wear spikes, Yaktrax or other grip devices on your shoes if you have them. There is an aid station at the midpoint. Young children must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are welcome on the course, but discouraged at the Minturn Winter Market.

Top finishers will receive awards, and there will be Clif Bars, gingerbread cookies and Gatorade at the finish. Fun post-race activities at the outdoor Minturn Winter Market include holiday shopping, s’mores and photos with Santa.

Online registration for the Holiday Fever 5K is $25 and $15 for the family run and is available through www.active.com. Both go up $5 on race day. Come to the Speckled Hound tent at the Minturn Winter Market to sign up the day of the race and to drop off your food donations.
