Q: The upper part of Ledges on the Lionshead side is groomed almost every day, yet it seldom appears on the daily grooming report — why not?
A: The run actually gets groomed by default because it is an area that snowcats often pass en route to other areas.
“Due to its proximity to parking and refueling on the mountain, the upper part of Ledges is a route that many of Vail Mountain’s snowcats will travel during their shift,” said Liz Biebl, of Vail Mountain communications. “For this reason, the upper section of Ledges often becomes a ‘bonus’ groomed run but is not listed on the official daily grooming report.”
