EAGLE-VAIL — The Eagle-Vail Metro District Winter Mountain Bike race will take place Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. Racers will meet prior to the start at the Eagle-Vail Pavilion located off of U.S. Highway 6 & 24 in Eagle-Vail.
This is the season’s second winter mountain bike event, and the sixth race in the Pedal Power Winter Race Series. The Eagle-Vail venue, located in the heart of the valley, has been a favorite since the Pedal Power series began in 1996. There will be two categories available this year, with an 8-10 mile course set up for advanced and expert riders and a 4-5 mile beginner course for those who simply want to get out and experience the thrill of winter mountain biking.
Registration for this event is $20. Participants can save time by pre-registering directly online at www.pedalpower bike.com. They can also register with forms from Pedal Power Bicycle Shop in Eagle-Vail or by calling 970-845-0931. Registration is also possible for $25 on the day of the event at the race.
Title sponsors for this year’s series are Gorsuch Ltd., Maximum Comfort Pool & Spa and Dollar Rent-a-Car. Individual event sponsors include The Tennessee Pass Nordic Center, Pazzo’s Pizza, The Arrowhead Alpine Club, The Eagle-Vail Metro District and The Tennessee Pass Cookhouse.
The final event in the Winter Race Series will be the Colorado State Snowshoe Championships, taking place on Feb. 8 at the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center. There will be 5K and 10K races, with the latter deciding the state championships in both men’s and women’s categories.
