EAGLE COUNTY — This Friday Vail Valley WyldLife will be hosting the world’s first annual Gobble Games. The event is a round-robin style tournament for middle school students featuring a variety of fast-moving games. Some events include knock-out, dodgeball, Nookem, futsal, ultimate four-square, and more.

WyldLife is a weekly gathering for students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade. The first Friday of each month during the school year, WyldLife holds a special event. These events are planned specifically for middle school-aged students and provide a safe environment for kids to play and have fun. Students are encouraged to bring their friends. Most WyldLifers attend school up-valley, but down-valley students are always welcome.

The events of the evening will be followed by a talk given by one of the leaders, as well as light refreshments.

Vail Valley WyldLife is a program that has been operating the Valley for almost 10 years and is a part of Young Life. Young Life starts with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. Young Life leaders log many hours with kids — where they are, as they are. Young Life leaders believe in the power of presence and that kids’ lives are dramatically influenced when caring adults show them love, compassion and Christian guidance.

In addition to meeting the first Friday of each month, Vail Valley WyldLife meets on Tuesday nights at the Basement in Edwards Riverwalk. The evening program involves a theme, games, friends, fun and a faith-based, Christian message. Students also have the opportunity to attend a weekend camp in Buena Vista in December along with students in WyldLife programs across the state of Colorado.
