United Way of Eagle River Valley distributes $255,000

EAGLE COUNTY — By awarding $255,150 to local charities, United Way of Eagle River Valley has impacted three key areas of needed support — income stability, health and education.

The grants, made to some 35 agencies, were sought earlier this year to benefit their important work at the core of charitable activities in the Eagle Valley.

Despite an economic downturn, which also affected Eagle County donations, United Way volunteers were able to gather funds to help agencies ranging from Vail Valley Salvation Army, Homecare and Hospice of the Valley, Small Champions of Colorado and Walking Mountains to the Food Bank of the Rockies.

‘Mark of Excellence’

“I am excited about these outstanding organizations because they have demonstrated community leadership, integrity and focus on their often life-changing missions,” United Way of Eagle River Valley Executive Director Rebecca Kanaly said. “They save lives, provide opportunity and foster hope by providing much needed services and experiences. They deserve this mark of excellence.”

Kanaly added, “I am also proud of the (United Way) board of directors for diligently and responsibly assessing each program.  The community, through their support, is looking to make a broad impact, with measurable outcomes, effectively and efficiently. The community relies on our due diligence, on our understanding the valley’s needs, our proven grant process and our follow-up on results.”
