Vail building official moving on

VAIL — Martin Haeberle, the town’s chief building official in the Vail Community Development Department, has resigned to take a similar building job with Interwest Consulting Group in Wildomar, California. His last day in Vail is today.

Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Haeberle was hired by the town in 2007 and has served as the chief building official for the past eight years. During Haeberle’s tenure, he has helped shape numerous developments and implemented many customer service improvements within the department. Examples include the over-the-counter building permit application approval process, special inspection services and the adoption of the most recent International Building Codes.

Community Development Director George Ruther said Haeberle’s role with the town will be remembered for his friendly style and demeanor and commitment to providing the highest level of customer service.

“Martin brought a smile into the office each and every day and never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand to a customer in need of his building code experience and knowledge,” Ruther said.

Haeberle said he’s most proud of the positive partnering and relationships that have been formed between the town’s building division and the development community.
