Solar energy company announces big giveaway

EAGLE COUNTY — Active Energies, a solar energy company, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this spring, and intends to do so by making a local homeowner very happy.

Three years ago, the Minturn-based company gave away a free solar installation — not just the equipment, a fully permitted, installed, complete solar installation. The company is doing the same thing this year.

“We had such a great time with our giveaway three years ago. We were lucky enough to have the winners be there in person to hear their name drawn. It was really exciting for everyone,” said Jason Weingast, vice president of Active Energies. “This is a great way to educate homeowners about how easy it is to go solar, while also making someone’s day pretty special.”

The 2013 winners were Maria Strausbourg and Jason Perrigaud, who happened to be new homeowners in Gypsum. The system was a great fit for their new home and they were soon spinning their electric meter backwards. The couple is still seeing great benefits from their system.

“During the summer months, our electric bill is practically zero,” Strausbourg said.

For a chance to win this year, home or business owners must contact Active Energies by June 15 to schedule a free solar site analysis to ensure their property is suitable for a solar installation.

The company will craft a proposal specifically designed for each property. Homeowners who book a free solar site analysis will receive information on solar installations for their home and also be entered to win the free system, if they meet the minimum requirements.
