Ready for sandal season, Eagle County?

Your feet have weathered Vail’s snow-flurried orage and nothing says spring like a new pair of shoes to show off your pristinely-pedi’d toes. This fashion season is the most anticipated as we shed our heavy winter shades and step into lighter ensembles filled with strappy numbers and rainbow-inspired hues. The spring runways ditched cold weather yawners such as black and gray as models strutted the catwalk in bold, jeweled tones that will surely knock your wool socks off.

As the temps heat up, your little piggies require some breathing room after being crammed into ski boots all winter. The first order of business to kick off spring fever is a much-needed pedicure. Whether your go-to gal is at Lovely Nails or Urban Nails (or, if you’re lucky, the pedicurist at the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor’s Gulch is a gem!), get those puppies buffed and polished for a pair of Yosi Samra ($48; Roxy) or TKees ($50; Perch) flip flops. Flip flops will show off your sexy calves just as much as those killer red-soled heels hidden in your closet, but won’t sink into the grass (or mud) and will give you an opportunity to boasts spring’s bouquet of nail colors. Our polish picks include Deborah Lippmann’s On the Beach ($17; Cosbar), a bright, sky blue, and YSL La Laque Couture ($25; Cosbar) in the citrusy-coral, Corail Colisee.

Ombre for your feet

Yosi Samra, known for his celebrity swooners including Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kourtney Kardashian, Jessica Alba, and Eva Longoria, designed his flips consistent with the brand’s philosophy of providing super-comfy, ultra-flexible shoes that are chic, catwalk-inspired and ready-to-wear. The ombré color trend may be passé for your hair, but Yosi Samra translates this look to your toes as his spring flip flop collection comes in ombré pink, ombré turquoise and ombré orange. In addition, for those of us who just can’t stay away from black no matter what the season, these flippers are also available in black patent. When you step out of the cold and into Vail Village’s Perch, it’s like you’ve been whisked away to Malibu, where the ocean breeze is a permanent fixture. It’s no wonder we discovered Tkees in the whitewashed, beach-inspired boutique. Tkees flip flop styles are flecked with a fresh, color palette including pink pearl, sprinkle cone, cheetah, cocoa butter, twilight, sable and minty.

If the bubble gum popping sound of your flip flops throws a wrench into your element of surprise plans, don one of spring’s super-cute sandals. A pair of Vince Maia ($175; Perch) gives your feet the pleasure of a flip without the annoying flop. A slick black patent finish, this mega-chic sandal capitalizes on the minimalist trend of the warmer season. Feeling footloose and fancy-free begins with fantasies of an Italian holiday. A pair of Canfora sandals, handmade in Capri, will add a sprinkle of flavor to your flawless fashionista ‘tude, especially when you discover the iconic beauties who have favored the brand over the years including Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly, Sofia Loren and Princess Caroline. The Anita (Gorsuch; $378) features clear rhinestones with silver leather, the Jamila ($378; Gorsuch) is a sophisticated thong sandal decorated with large colored crystals set in gold and the Gisele Crocodile ($638; Gorsuch) highlights genuine crocodile leather with a horse-bit buckle. Pure giddiness will dominate your mood once you slip into the Isabelle ($378; Gorsuch), which accentuates your dainty pedicure with a rose gold strap in the finest calf leather. What comes around, goes around is not only about karma in the fashion world. The re-invasion of the gladiator sandal trend is one that can either be a broken record or wildfire on your covet list. Not quite the knee-high Jimmy Choo Mogul Tall Cage Gladiator Boot, the Cynthia Vincent Lulu ($415; Perch) is a watered down version for us real gals. The brown gladiator does come with a hefty 4-inch heel, but the wedge will make it possible for you to still swagger down the Vail Village catwalk.

Downvalley kicks

When traffic is not an issue, heading to Eagle in good weather for a fabulous pair of shoes is not unheard of amongst the Valley’s fashion elite. Stop by Everyday Outfitters to check out Miz Mooz’ spring collection. Two hot-on-our-radar must-sees are the Miz Mooz Yogi ($100) and Miz Mooz Calypso ($110). The Yogi (in turquoise) is a chunky, wedge sandal that is edgy and eclectic. At first glance, the Calypso’s shape conjures up station wagons and the Ya Ya Sisterhood. But, upon closer inspection, you will love the two-tone with tear-drop-shaped cutout details that set this style far apart from our mothers’ version of the summer sandal.

Skier’s toe got your panties in a bunch? Don’t worry, sacrificing fashion for healing is not on the menu, especially when a super-cute driving moc has your name written all over it. The Vera Wang Dorian (grey and lapis; Perch; $198) is a colorfully preppy moccasin that is ultra-comfy for tooling around town. Toms are a modern cross between a driving moccasin and an espadrille and, for spring, the brand doesn’t disappoint with the Navy Crochet Women’s Classics (Roxy; $58) and the Turquoise Metallic Linen Women’s Classics (Roxy; $58). Earth Day is April 22 and, as every couture-craver knows, it is very chi-chi to be environmentally conscious. Make a wise choice and purchase a pair of Toms Earthwise Women’s Vegan Classics (Roxy; $54) The Earthwise Classics Collection is made of recycled, vegan and sustainable materials featuring a unique twill consisting of hemp and recycled plastic bottles.
