Eagle County senior community calendar

Upcoming events

Wednesday: Stroke Survivor Support Group, 9 a.m. at the Golden Eagle senior center. All are welcome; please call 970-328-1540 for more information.

Thursday: Holiday concert with Pat Hamilton and Peter Vavre at the Eagle River Presbyterian Church. (The location of the Senior Spot will be moved to Eagle River Presbyterian Church also.) Event begins at 1:30 p.m. Address: 455 Nottingham Ranch Road, Avon (across from Walmart).

Friday: Dickens Carolers will be singing your favorite Christmas tunes at the Golden Eagle Senior Center, 6:15 p.m. Call 970-328-8896 for more information.

Friday: Joann Moore will be coming to teach the “Elfen dance” at 11 a.m. at Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center.

Ongoing weekly activities

Mondays

• Senior Spot for engaging activities and socialization (must be 55 or older), 1 to 4 p.m. This program is sponsored by Eagle Valley Senior Life. It is located at the Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center. Call 970-328-8831 for more information.

• Full body fitness exercise class, 9 to 10 a.m. at the Golden Eagle Senior Center in Eagle. A full body workout incorporating both seated and standing activities. Variety will be offered with hand weights, resistance bands, circuit training, balance and coordination challenges and cardiovascular training. Suggested donation of $2 per class. Call 970-328-8896 for more information.

Tuesdays

• Senior lunch, noon at the Golden Eagle Senior Center in Eagle, $3 suggested donation for people 60 or older. Home pick-ups and drop-offs are available. Call 970-328-8896 for reservations and information.

• Tai Chi for Health class at the Golden Eagle Senior Center, $2 per class. Runs through the end of 2013. Call 328-8896 for more information.

• Seated stretch and strengthen exercise class, 11 a.m. to noon at the Golden Eagle Senior Center. A fully seated class, incorporating general stretching and strengthening for both upper and lower extremities. Hand weights and resistance bands will be incorporated, as will seated balance activities to help engage the core. There will be some limited cardiovascular work in this class as well. Suggested donation of $2 per class. Call 970-328-8896 for more information.

• Transportation for errands (bank, post office, etc.). Bus leaves the Golden Eagle at 2 p.m. for this service. Call 970-328-8896 for more information.

• Joint Relief Water Class, 10 to 11 a.m. at the Avon Recreation Center. $2 per class. Call 970-328-8831 for more information.

• Water aerobics class, 10 to 11 a.m. at the Gypsum Recreation Center. $5 drop in rate. Call 970-328-8896 for more information

Wednesdays

• Senior lunch, 11:30 a.m. at the Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center. $2 per meal for those 60 or older. Home pick-ups and drop-offs are available, depending on location. Call 970-328-8831 for reservations.

• Snowshoeing at Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center, 10 a.m. Snowshoe equipment provided.

• Chair yoga at Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center, 11 a.m.

• Grocery shopping, bus leaves Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center at 12:30 p.m.
