EAGLE COUNTY — A children’s medical clinic is hosting a sign-up rally that requires participants to get up and move, instead of sit down.

The Kids Care Clinic in Avon elementary school is hosting a Move it Revolution Thursday. Students and families are encouraged to participate in healthy games: 3 on 3 basketball, jump rope, hula hooping, and others.

Participants will receive free prizes, enroll in the clinic for the upcoming year and enter a drawing for a mountain bike.

Kid Care Clinic, the school-based health clinic at Avon Elementary School, provides affordable healthcare options to Eagle County students in kindergarten through 12th grade who are insured, uninsured or underinsured. It’s in Avon elementary school and is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. year round.

Doctors Plus runs the clinic. It’s the non-profit arm of Doctors on Call, Guy and Jill Kovacevich’s local business.

“We know that many families living in Eagle County struggle to pay for health insurance or medical bills,” Jill said. “The Avon Kids Care Clinic serves as a critical resource to make sure kids are healthy, learning and thriving throughout the year.”

The clinic charges on a sliding scale, and no student is ever turned away due to an inability to pay, Jill said. She said the clinic accepts Medicare and Medicaid patients, under-insured and uninsured, and that it will pay for itself.

Colorado has 57 school-based health clinics, said Diedre Callahan with Colorado Association for School-Based Health Care.

Clinics are placed where people have limited access to healthcare, Callahan said.

The school-based clinic will also refer patients to local doctors, Jill said.
