Minturn cleanup day is Saturday
May 26, 2014
MINTURN — The town of Minturn will hold its annual Town Clean-Up Day on Saturday from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. The event will be held in the upper parking lot of Little Beach Park on Cemetery Road.
The annual cleanup provides the residents of Minturn with a free receptacle to deposit their appliances, debris and undesired items. The Minturn Public Works Department staff will be at Little Beach Park parking lot to help unload vehicles.
There will be volunteers from Battle Mountain Development Co. with trucks to assist residents with transporting their large, unwanted items to the Dumpsters if they do not have access or the ability to bring the items to Little Beach Park themselves. If Minturn residents, especially senior citizens, are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, items for disposal should be prepared and ready for pick-up in an accessible area.
To sign up for this free service, contact Lisa Osborne at the Minturn Town Offices at 970-827-5645, extension 105, or firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday.
The Eagle Valley Community Fund will gladly take items in good condition for their annual fundraiser Rummage Sale held at their facility in Maloit Park. Residents may bring automotive batteries, refrigerators with freon and automotive tires for disposal, free of charge.
Items not accepted for pick-up or disposal include, but are not limited to: Paint, rocks and dirt, commercial construction materials, hazardous waste, flammable items, televisions and oil of any kind.
Hazardous materials may be disposed of at the Household Hazardous Waste and Small Business Collection Facility located at the Eagle County Landfill.
Each year, the town seeks volunteers to partner with town staff to clean up litter and debris in all areas of town. Volunteers will be meeting at the Little Beach Park upper parking lot at 9 a.m. Saturday. All volunteers are asked to sign in. Once signed in and outfitted with the necessary gear, each volunteer will be assigned a specific area to work for litter pick-up. The town will provide garbage bags and safety vests. Bring sturdy gloves to protect your hands.
