With the Trump family scheduled to be in Aspen this week, a protest against President Donald Trump is being organized for this morning in Paepcke Park.

Dubbed the “Protest for All That is Right and Good,” the event is being organized by two Carbondale men who want people to “express their opposition to President Trump’s policies, behavior and lack of insightful leadership,” according to a statement sent out Saturday afternoon.

The protest is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and the organizers want to use the World Cup Finals stage Aspen has to show their concerns with the administration. The races are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. today.

“We hope Aspen’s place in the spotlight due to the World Cup races will not only let Trump’s family know of our opposition, but that we stand in solidarity with those around the world who feel the impacts of Trump’s policies such as immigrants and Muslims,” one of the protest organizers, Michael Levengood, said in the statement. “We march for the America we envision, not the one we are being forced into with executive orders and the Republican Party.”

The group “Indivisible Aspen,” which is the local chapter of the national Resistance Against the Trump Agenda, said it will be at the protest to bring attention to Trump’s actions concerning climate change and the environment.
