DENVER — An Avon man facing charges of sexually assaulting local children was found dead in a Denver motel.
Ronald Tribelhorn, 65, faced multiple charges on a child by a person in a position of trust.
He was found dead last week in a La Quinta Inn motel in Denver, according to the Denver coroner's office.
One of Tribelhorn's friends found him in the motel and notified the motel's security, the Denver coroner's office said. Police were called and an autopsy was performed to determine the cause of death. The results are pending, the Denver coroner's office said.
Tribelhorn was arrested following an investigation by Avon police and was scheduled to be charged, stemming from allegations of a pattern of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust. The allegations included multiple children during a number of years, prosecutors said.
After Tribelhorn's initial arrest, Judge Rachel Fresquez set his bond at $250,000. He posted bond and was released.
When Avon police investigators went to his house a few days later as part of their investigation, they found he'd been drinking, and he was arrested again for violating his bond conditions, Avon police said.
He was back in court the next morning where Fresquez set his bond at $500,000.
He again bailed himself out and headed to Denver, where he was later found dead.
His arrest information was not being released to the public because the case remains under investigation, said Jill Sarmo with the District Attorney's office.
Tribelhorn was a former manager with Lockheed Martin Computer Services and studied at the University of Colorado Boulder. He lived in Avon.
