Calling all Eagle County homebrewers
Ryan Summerlin January 11, 2012
EDWARDS – Attention homebrewers: Crazy Mountain Brewing Company, based in the Vail Valley, is hosting our second annual Homebrew ProAm, open to all Colorado homebrewers.
The premise is simple – instead of winning a medal, the ProAm winner will get the opportunity to scale up their unique recipe and brew a batch on Crazy Mountain’s 17.5 barrel commercial brewing system. That is 30 full size kegs of their brew that we will pour in the Crazy Mountain tasting room and distribute to bars and restaurants around Colorado. The homebrew winner could be drinking their very own beer on draft at a local bar.
Last year, Tate Weiger of Avon won with his Raspberry Wheat recipe and Crazy Mountain brewed three batches over the course of eight months since it was so popular.
Please submit two bottles per style (unlimited number of styles) clearly labeled with:
• First and last name
• Cell phone number
• Email address
• Beer name
• Beer style
• ABV percent
Drop off your samples to Crazy Mountain Brewery in Edwards by 5 p.m. on Feb. 24. They will be judged by a panel of local beer experts and the winner will be announced on March 9. The following week the winner will brew their batch on the brewery’s commercial system with Crazy Mountain’s brewmaster, Kevin Selvy. There will be a tapping party in the tasting room March 30 from 5 to 8 p.m., where the winner’s beer will debut.
