Claire Faust Keeler, 1923-2012

Claire Faust Keeler died on Thursday, July 26 at her home in Minturn at the age of 89. Mrs. Keeler was a long time local resident, having a home in East Vail since 1974 and living full-time in Minturn for the last 19 years. She was born in St. Louis, Mo. on January 29, 1923, the daughter of Leicester B. and Mary P. Faust.
She was married to Henry G. Keeler, Jr. for 50 years. She is survived by her daughters,
Ann Keeler Poucher of Denver and Minturn, and Claire Keeler Beck of Minturn and Danby, Vt. Her granddaughter, Claire Bartlett Evans, lives in Denver with her two children, Tala and Keeler Evans.
Mrs. Keeler was an avid sportswoman. She rode horses all her life, and skied until her 80’s. She won the National Retriever Field Trial Championship as an amateur, and achieved her private pilots license in order to travel to various competitions. Per Mrs. Keeler’s wishes, there will be no service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in her name to the Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine or the Eagle County Humane Society.
