Steamboat patroller seriously hurt in skiing accident dies

Associated Press

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — A member of the Steamboat Ski Patrol who was seriously injured in a skiing accident has died.

Steamboat Today reports (http://goo.gl/o4mwAI ) 63-year-old Michael Fosdick crashed on the upper Rainbow trail at Steamboat Ski Area on Thursday. He died at a Denver hospital Tuesday.

Fosdick had been a courtesy patroller at the ski area since 2007. Courtesy patrollers help with on-mountain safety but do not provide medical care.

The Routt County Sheriff’s Office says it’s unclear if a medical issue caused the crash, which no one witnessed.

The resort issued a statement Wednesday saying Fosdick “lived his life with a passion to serve others and we know this will continue to feed us all.”
