Black Forest Fire near Colorado Springs prompts mandatory evacuations

BLACK FOREST —El Paso County Sheriff's Office fire crews are at the scene of a fire on Shoup Road and Highway 83 that was first reported about 2 p.m. The fire is about 15 acres near the 12600 block of Peregrine Way near Black Forest Regional Park.

A live video stream from Colorado news stations shows multiple houses burning in the blaze — some homes have already been reduced to bare foundations.

The Colorado Office of Emergency Management is sending a field manager to the scene.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department called the fire "aggressive" and said it was moving quickly. The department sent resources to the scene and the Colorado Springs Police Department is also assisting.
