Today's activity: Exiting Vail Mountain as fast as possible during a lightning storm
Conditions: When lightning strikes on Vail Mountain, hikers are wise to get off the trails and into safer environs as fast as possible. Usually, hitching a ride with mountain personnel isn't an option for hikers, but during a storm those friendly folks will usually make an exception in the name of safety.
Today's weather: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming southeast. Chance of precipitation is 50%. — National Weather Service
