Armed carjacking near Red Cliff has police searching for two suspects
EAGLE COUNTY — Police and sheriff’s deputies in Lake and Eagle counties are searching for two suspects in an armed carjacking.
The first suspect is described as an Hispanic male with a heavy build, and a thick beard, wearing a black beanie and a blue jacket.
The second suspect is a young, skinny male wearing a green jacket.
They are both considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.
About 3:30 a.m. Thursday, two males were driving from Leadville toward Minturn along Highway 24 in Eagle County.
The suspects, who appeared to need assistance, flagged down the two men, said the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.
When they pulled over, one of the men pulled a gun and pointed it at the driver. That suspect yanked the driver out of the car.
At the same time, the other suspect yanked the passenger out of the car.
The two suspects got in the car, turned around and headed back toward Leadville.
The stolen vehicle was located on Lake County Road 48 later Thursday morning.
Authorities are asking for any information that would help them safely apprehend the suspects.
