EAGLE COUNTY — Eagle County Treasurer Karen Sheaffer has been installed as president of the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers. The association focuses on networking, information exchange, training and continuing education and serves over 800 active members representing local, state, provincial, national and international agencies.
Sheaffer is the third International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers president elected from Colorado. She has been a member since 1996 and previously served as director-at-large, treasurer, secretary, second vice-president and first vice-president within the organization.
“I’ve been proud to represent Eagle County as Treasurer for the last 18 years,” said Sheaffer. “It will be an additional honor to serve as president of IACREOT and a wonderful opportunity to showcase Eagle County’s commitment to excellence,” she said.
In addition to her appointment, Sheaffer successfully lobbied to bring the annual International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers conference to Vail in August 2015. Between attendees, family members and vendors, approximately 450-500 people are expected as part of the conference. The host hotel will be the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort.
