Open Audition

What: Porchlight Players is holding open auditions for this winter’s musical, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”

When: Thursday, Nov. 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 17 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Where: Lower level, Alpine Bank building in Eagle.

Details: Roles include male and female, principle and ensemble parts, all ages (no children’s roles). Be prepared to read from the script and sing a song of your choice. A CD player will be available if you have orchestration for your song (sorry, no live piano.) Kidz Night Out

What: Kids in kindergarten through fifth grade can enjoy various activities that may include the anti-gravity center, gymnastics, rock climbing, video games, sports and more.

Time: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Where: Western Eagle County Metropolitan Recreation District Field House at Edwards

Details: Cost is $20 and includes pizza, drink and supervision.

Holiday Bazaar

What: Christmas crafts and the Eagle Community United Methodist Church Women’s famed chicken noodle soup

When: Saturday, Nov. 16

Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Brush Creek Pavilion

Movie and discussion

What: Free showing of “Spanglish” for adults with discussion to follow.

When: Sunday, Nov. 17

Time: 1 p.m.

Where: Eagle Public Library

Details: Discussion led by Jay Wallace and refreshments are planned.

Sew a Stocking

What: Opportunity to sew a stocking for a local teen in need in preparation for the holiday season

When: Tuesday, Nov. 19

Time: 3 to 5 p.m.

Where: Gypsum Public Library

Details: Stockings will be decorated by teens, filled with items for teens in need and delivered to the Salvation Army in time for the holidays. Participants are asked to bring teen-friendly stocking stuffers for donation.

Winter Market and Holiday Fair

What: The popular downvalley Christmas fair returns

When: Friday, Nov. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Eagle River Center at the Eagle County Fairgrounds

Details: Pet pictures with Santa, holiday music and children’s activities round out a day of shopping for unique gifts for the entire family. Admission is free.

Battle for the Bird

What: Three-on-three hockey tournament with divisions for Squirt (ages 9-10), Pee-Wee (ages 11-12) and Bantam (ages 13-14) players

When: Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 & 30

Time: Play begins at 8 a.m. and will be determined by the number of teams that participate

Where: Eagle Pool and Ice Rink

Ice Princess Party

What: Ice skating party for girls ages 5 and older

When: Sunday, Dec. 1

Time: 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Where: Eagle Pool and Ice Rink

Details: Dress up as a princess and skate and twirl on ice to princess music and lights with friends. Enjoy magical snacks and make a special tree ornament to take home. Cost is $12 and includes skate rental. Call 970-328-5277 for additional information.

Christmas on Broadway

What: Downtown Eagle holiday celebration with nighttime parade

When: Saturday, Dec. 7

Time: Festivities begin at 3:30 p.m.

Details: Activities will include shop decoration contest voting, homemade chicken noodle soup booth, live entertainment and a bonfire at Eagle Town Park.

Winter Extravaganza

What: Holiday ice skating party for all ages

When: Sunday, Dec. 15

Time: 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Where: Eagle Pool and Ice Rink

Details: Skate Club Vail will perform and costumed skaters will join participants on the ice. The whole family is welcome to free hot chocolate and everyone can decorate a sweet treat. Santa will be on hand for photos. Cost is $5 per person and all ages are welcome. Call 970-328-5277 for information.
