Gypsum Community Cleanup

What: Town wide spring cleaning with free dumpsters for community residents

When: Saturday, May 10

Time: 8 a.m. to noon

Where: Gypsum sports complex parking lot

Details: Ring Recycling will be on site for metal, appliance and electronics recycling. Habitat for Humanity will have a truck to take away furniture in good condition. Rescue Rendezvous

What: Mountain Valley Horse Rescue event including a showcase of adopted and available rescue horses.

When: Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11

Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Eagle County Fairgrounds.

Details: Horse demonstrations, cowboy auction, live band, horses for adoption and a Dinner & Dirt Dance on Saturday night Bring mom to celebrate Mother’s Day! AARP Driver Safety Classes

What: AARP driver safety class for area residents age 50 and older

When: Saturday, May 10

Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Glenwood Springs Library at 815 Cooper Ave.

Details: Most Colorado auto insurance companies offer discounts to those who complete the course. There is a $15 fee for AARP members and a $20 fee for non-members for the workbook and handouts, payable to the instructor. To register call 970-384-8747 or for more information email dspgws@rof.net.

Explorers Club Science Fair

What: First ever science fare for member of the Eagle Public Library Explorers Club

When: Wednesday, May 14

Time: 4 p.m.

Where: Eagle Public Library

Details: Kids in 3rd through 5th grades have submitted project outlines to Miss Amy at the library and up to 10 team or individual projects have been selected for display. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.

Eagle Outside Festival Kickoff Block Party

What: Live music pre-event party

When: Friday, May 16

Time: 4 p.m. start. Live music at 6:30 p.m.

Where: Bonfire Brewing Company at 127 Second Street in Eagle

Details: Each party go’er will receive one free beer if he or she arrives by bike. For Eagle Outside Festival competitors, Firebird and Firebird la Femme packet pickup is planned from 6 to 9 p.m. at Addison Building on corner of Capitol and Sylvan Lake Road in downtown Eagle Ranch.
