Local Josiah Middaugh won the pro field of the Xterra Mountain Championship — the premier event in high-elevation off-road triathlon competition — by more than five minutes.

Rembering Stan Bernstein

Many locals showed up to remember long-time local Stan Bernstein Monday morning at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Vail Valley Foundation, 90 Benchmark Road, Suite 300, Avon CO 81630, or the Stanley Bernstein Memorial Fund at any FirstBank location.

Roundabout accidents

Two women were injured, one seriously, in separate Avon roundabout accidents over the weekend.

Neither of the women were wearing seatbelts when they drove over the roundabout and crashed through the center at the intersection of US Highway 6 and Avon’s Post Boulevard.

Vail Mtn. Trails open

All available hiking and biking trails on Vail Mountain are now open for the summer, including Kinnickinnick and Sunlight hiking trails, which recently re-opened.

In recent years, both trails have been closed due to construction projects.

Carbondale Clinic

Carbondale is home to the new Roaring Fork Family Practice facility – an off-shoot of Valley View Hospital.

The clinic is the first major public building constructed after Carbondale adopted a version of the International Green Construction Code. Since June of 2013, new commercial buildings and major commercial renovations in town are subject to the code, albeit with some revisions.
