Eagle Town Board

April 14, 2015

Airlift Adventures

Issue: William Goodro, a Fort Collins-based aviation businessman, proposed a temporary use permit to allow a helicopter pad for scenic tours. The operation was proposed at 1384 Chambers Avenue, at the southeast corner of the Chambers Avenue/Marmot Lane intersection. The length of the permit specified tourists for two six-month periods in 2015 and 2016.

Discussion: Both the Eagle Planning and Zoning Commission and the Eagle town staff recommended denial of the application, citing incompatibility with neighboring uses and noise impacts. Several neighboring property owners submitted formal objections to the plan.

Colorado Department of Transportation Presentation

Issue: Martha Miller, CDOT resident engineer for the Eagle area, presented an update on projects planned in the Eagle area this summer.

Discussion: Miller noted that CDOT has begun work on the Brush Creek Bridge replacement and that job will be completed by fall of 2015. She noted that this is the third summer in a row that Eagle will feel the impacts of CDOT projects.

“Sorry to be back in Eagle again, but the good news is you are going to have a great entrance from the east and from the west and from I-70,” Miller said.

Don’t be sorry. Come any time,” responded Eagle Mayor Yuri Kostick.

Miller also noted that landscaping crews are beginning their work at the Eby Creek Road roundabouts and that part of the project should be completed by Memorial Day weekend.

Miller also noted that the state has submitted the project for state and national award programs. “We think it is a great project and we want to showcase it,” she said.

Decision: The mayor and members of the town board noted they had submitted letters of support for the awards programs and voiced their satisfaction with the way the Eby Creek Road project functions for the community.

Greater Eagle Fire Department update

Issue: Alex Mintling, chairman of the Greater Eagle Fire Protection Board of Directors, presented an update

Discussion: Mintling read from a prepared statement, detailing the district’s financial challenges with tax revenues that have dropped by 43 percent since 2011. He noted the district built up its financial reserves to address this issue. Additionally, he noted the district has been cutting expenses. Mintling also told the town board there are currently four unfilled full-time staff positions in the fire department — chief, deputy chief of operations, training coordinator and float firefighters. “Our dedicated volunteers and full-time staff are consistently doing more with less and they deserve much credit,” said Mintling.

Decision: The board thanked Mintling for the presentation and offered to work with the fire district as it addressed future needs and challenges.

New Eagle Town Clerk

Issue: Jenny Ellringer took the oath of office as Eagle’s new town clerk

Discussion: Town board members welcomed Ellringer to her new position.
