A golden Ticket

If you received this edition of the Free Enterprise in a home delivery package, make sure you carefully check out every page because you may have a Golden Ticket.

That’s what Caroline Bradford of Eagle did, and as a result her daughter’s soccer coach received a gift certificate to Pazzo’s.

Each week, the Free Enterprise randomly slips a Golden Ticket voucher — which can be redeemed at the Enterprise office for a gift card from a local restaurant or business — inside one of its home delivery newspapers. The lucky reader can use the certificate at his or her leisure, but we would love to hear from winners and include a photo in the paper.

When Bradford found her Golden Ticket last week, she decided it would be a great gift for soccer coach Tanya Caruso. The team agreed and presented the gift to their coach after practice last Thursday.

If you find a certificate inside your Free Enterprise, congratulations from us and please let us know by calling Pam Boyd at 970-328-6656 Ext. 4 or emailing pboyd@eaglevalleyenterprise.com.

Anyone who is currently receiving home delivery of the Free Enterprise, but would prefer not to have the newspaper delivered can contact David Hakes at 970-748-2976.

Market savvy

Need some stock market advice? It might be time to ask some local fifth graders what they think.

A team of five fifth grade students from Brush Creek Elementary School recently won first place overall in the elementary division of the Colorado Council for Economic Education Stock Market Experience competition. Taught by Mrs. Karen Espegren, gifted and talented teacher at BCES, team members are Sebie Witt, Jason Morrison, Carter Josef, Nathan Moody and Matthew Faddick.

Brush Creek’s other team, comprised of fifth graders Hayley Bill, Maddy Collom, Mollie Ritsch, Olivia Dusenberry and Grace McCurdy, won second place in the Northwest Region Elementary Division.

The Stock Market Experience is a real life online simulation for students in third through 12th grades. This competition empowers students with their own fictional $100,000 investment portfolio. Teams worked together to invest in stocks, mutual funds, bonds and commodities on US and International Exchanges over the course of a semester. Students were able to trade in real time with streaming portfolio updates, using a state of the art software platform.

The Stock Market Experience Awards Ceremony was held at the Denver Zoo on May 9. Teams were presented with certificates and cash prizes.

The fun begins at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 29 and continues to 9 a.m. Friday, May 30. The party will be held at the Gypsum Annex Building, 3293 Cooley Mesa Road.
