Vail Daily letter: How to vote in Vail

My name is Dick Cleveland, a candidate for the Vail Town Council. Over the past weeks I have walked Vail’s neighborhoods talking to local residents about the upcoming election. To my alarm, it is clear that there is confusion among Vail voters about how to vote in the 2015 Town Council election. Many people have told me they received their ballot in the mail but didn’t see my name (or any other council candidate’s names) on the ballot they received.

For clarification, the Eagle County Clerk and Recorder’s Office mailed out ballots for the 2015 Coordinated Election. This ballot includes only county and state-wide issues. The town of Vail election is not included on that ballot.

Town of Vail voters who wish to vote for Town Council candidates can do so in three ways:

1. Vail voters can come to the polls on Tuesday at the Vail Municipal Building and cast their ballots in person from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

2. Voters can request an absentee ballot from the Vail Town Clerk’s Office until Friday at 5 p.m. Absentee ballots must be returned by mail or in person to the Vail Municipal Building prior to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

3. Voters can also go to the Vail Municipal Building between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. any day this week and take part in early voting. Early voting ends Friday at 5 p.m.

Whichever you choose, please vote, and please consider voting for Dick Cleveland for the Vail Town Council.
